it's puddin', puddin'

The contents of these bowls is really just humble Jell-o instant coconut cream pudding, but serve almost anything in the right vessel, and it becomes an exciting photo opportunity.

That, and it's time for us to go grocery shopping.

Also, here's another flyer to put on the pile:

bonnet-y thrifting and haircuts

So several things have happened lately - I went out and had my very long (for me) hair abruptly chopped off into what could almost be accurately described as a Dickensian urchin-esque shag, but which I had hoped at the time would be a pixie.

I printed out and lovingly x-acto knifed Patricia Zapata's 2009 wall calendar. Naturally, it is still January, but I took the picture of the March page, because it has my favorite backing paper. Since I was holding the camera, it was my call.
This was a really pleasant little task of exactly the kind of piddly, time-consuming paper-cutting that I love.

And, possibly most excitingly, I finally got around to making a bonnet from my Amy Karol King Pod pattern that I've only had sitting around for months, waiting for some attention.
I made this bonnet out of a really nice gray light weight wool with an almost comically oversize chartreuse ribbon. It's great, I look like I'm going out to tend to my flock of imaginary sheep with it on, but that's kind of the idea, I think.

And then there's my in-progress thrifted sideboard, spread out and primered smack in the middle of the house so you have to navigate the workspace everytime you want, say, a glass of milk from the fridge. I maintain the position that this particular piece of furniture has a lot of "potential" and is going to be nifty as can be with a little more paint ( a lot more paint?)
Either way, I'm off to go attack it with a can of alabaster white right now.

a little joy

self portrait with joycam
or
adventures in expired polaroid film

After a morning full of irritating bureaucratic phone calls that may or may not have accomplished anything at all (probably the latter), I took myself out to the yard with my trusty little silver polaroid joycam camera (sadly discontinued years ago) and some of the (also discontinued) film for it that Joshua got for my last birthday. I feel a little better now, and maybe with another cup of coffee and some lunch this day can be salvaged after all.

fresh ink

A whole box o' flyers, all fresh and crisp and new. Very exciting.

girls and cars

Lately I've been busying myself with a flyer project for Joshua's band. They're at work being printed (two color! fancy!) right now, but here's how the final designs came out:

Naturally, the talking car is my favorite of the bunch.

post holiday shop update

There's a charming little post-holiday shop update going on over at my shop - a few bears and a sea creature here and there.

I hope everyone's holidays went well. Ours involved a lot of over-eating, which is the whole point, I guess.
